Jennifer is another member who works tirelessly for our development team.  She’s the bug-fixing queen in our books!  Jenn is expecting her second baby in just a couple weeks, and is officially going on maternity leave at the end of this week, so we wanted to make sure and get her interview done before she was gone!

What is your favorite type of music?

Girly pop music with as much harmony and as little pounding beat as possible. I hate rap and hip-hop.

If you have an hour of free time to spare, what do you do with it?

Work on a craft project. I tend to rotate through knitting, crocheting, making quilts, cross-stitch, and writing novels. I also, for briefer periods of time, sometimes get interested in designing house floor plans, drawing or gardening. Unfortunately, I tend to start a lot more projects than I finish.

What kinds of food do you like?

My husband’s cooking – it’s much better than mine!

What is the most interesting place you’ve ever traveled?

I once got to travel to Italy to see Pompeii and other ancient Roman ruins near Naples as part of a college class. That was an amazing experience!

What do you like best about your job?

There’s nothing better than the feeling when I successfully solve a problem that had seemed impossible at some points during the investigation. I also love that almost every day requires me to learn something new.

If you could have dinner with anyone, alive or historical, who would it be?

Maybe Thomas Jefferson. I’ve heard that his dinner parties were noted for being full of intelligent and influential people from a variety of backgrounds conversing on a wide range of subjects, and Jefferson himself had an amazing intuitive understanding of political science, which is a subject I’ve always been interested in.

What do you want to be when you grow up?

I want to become wise enough that when I predict the future I’m usually right, and when I’m as old as my grandmother I hope I can live as gracefully as she does. I certainly have a long way to go on both goals!

Do you speak any other languages, and which ones?

I studied French for years but never really became fluent, and I learned some Latin but I’ve forgotten most of it by now.

What was your last Do It Yourself project?

I’m currently trying to finish crocheting a baby blanket before my new baby arrives.

What online sites do you visit?

I’m completely addicted to webcomics, and watching anime music videos on youtube is my favorite guilty pleasure. I also watch full anime episodes on streaming sites and occasionally binge on news sites.

If you could have a super power, what would it be?

To split myself in three – one to go to work, one to handle family responsibilities and one to do things just for me.

What’s something about you that few people know?

I majored in Classical Civilizations (i.e. Ancient Greece and Rome) before realizing that a career as a computer programmer would be far more fun than devoting my life to studying broken ruins and dusty records.
