One of the awesome perks of operating an international listings portal – *cough* Point2 Homes *cough* – is that I get to see some amazing properties from all over the world on a near daily basis.  From Brazilian casas to Greek villas, there is always something neat to gawk at when there are a few minutes of down time around the office.

Whenever I find a particularly cool listing, I bookmark it in a special folder called “Hot Props” (don’t ask) for later perusal – and so I can go back to it and see if the asking price has changed.  While I was mulling over this folder last week I noticed that I have been accumulating quite a few of a particular kind of listing – castles.

Yes, you read that right, castles.  Not the modern “McMansion” style castles which dot the suburbs of North America, but rather full-on “Disney-esque” castles, that are hundreds of years old and can be found all over the world.

So without further ado, here are four of my favorite castles from the Hot Props folder that are currently for sale on Point2 Homes:

Spiritual?  Then you’ll love this one.  Built around a turn-of-the-century cathedral, this 8000 square foot estate is built on 23 acres of orchards and meadows.  Judging by the listing photos you might also get a herd of sheep thrown in for free.  Talk about a deal!

Alcoy/Alcoi (Alicante, Alicante, ES)

Billed as “multi-purpose” this Spanish castle is filled to the brim with all manner of ornate decoration and detail work.  Amenities include, saunas, bird houses, and “2 toilets” – I have no idea why that is in quotes in the original listing.

Continually renovated over the 17th and 18th century to keep up with the times, this enormous French castle boasts a guard’s quarters, a garden maze, and an entirely separate grounds keeper’s quarters to look after the enormous estate.
